The Accra regional Police command has apprehended two suspected criminals for allegedly stealing items worth thousands of Ghana cedis from shops at Kwame Nkrumah circle.

The suspects include Sadat Sulemana, 35, the ex-convict and Daniel Lanquaye, 30.

The police retrieved computer accessories, a steel cutter, flash light, decoder, long metal bar and two computer system units from the boot of the Kia Rio with a false number plate.

They are currently in police custody assisting in police investigations.

Confirming the arrest of the suspects to DAILY GUIDE, ASP Afia Tengey, the Accra Regional Public Relations Officer, said the incident occurred at about 1am at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, near Niagara Hotel, yesterday.

Police received information that two persons suspected to be criminals were attempting to break into a shop at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, near the Niagara Hotel.

A patrol team was dispatched to the scene to arrest the suspects. The police later realized that the suspects had tampered with the registration number of the KIA Rio vehicle to facilitate their nefarious operations.

The original registration number of the vehicle-AW 5875- 14 was changed to A 5875-1.

They allegedly kept the aforementioned items in the boot of the car. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they stole the computers and other items from a shop at Madina.

Further checks by the police indicated that Sadat, the ex-convict was apprehended with two others for stealing in 2012 but he was later granted bail by the court while his accomplices were incarcerated.

'The car has also been impounded while the police investigate the matter since the suspects are known criminals,' ASP Tengey said
