Customers of Stanbic Bank Ghana are in for a treat as the bank on Monday opened its doors for business with an upgrade of its operating system.

The upgrade ushers in a totally new way of doing things that simplifies processes for the mutual benefit of the bank and its customers.

For customers, the system brings enhanced customer experience as Stanbic staff now have access to a system that makes it easier to serve customers.

It will bring about a reduction in the time for processing of documents, create a single view of the customer and eliminate duplication of data, all to the benefit of the client.

Alhassan Andani, Chief Executive of Stanbic Ghana, speaking about the system's upgrade said, “With the customer as our most important stakeholder, our aim at Stanbic Bank has always been to deliver world class financial services. This upgrade is the latest on the journey to excellence and the transformation of banking in Ghana”.

Being a member of Africa's largest banking group, Standard Bank, with affiliates in countries around the world, customers now have access to services of the unified group at the touch of a button as the upgrade will move all of Standard Bank's ROA operations onto the same platform.

Customers will be issued new account numbers which will be used concurrently with the old numbers for a period of twelve months, thereafter the old number ceases to be operational.

Current stock of cheques reflecting the old account numbers will remain valid till they run out. Thereafter new cheque books will only display the new account numbers.

The internet banking platform of the bank, for example, has been given a new look which is more user friendly and interactive.

The Group wide programme was initiated in 2008 to replace the multiple core banking systems deployed across Standard Bank Group's African footprint with a single, standardised solution.
