The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has appealed to the Chartered Institute of Ghana (CIMG) to pitch in to fight the spread of the deadly Ebola.

In a fraternal message to the CIMG on the 25 th anniversary of the annual marketing performance awards, President of AAG, Joel E. Nettey said his association has taken the lead by educating the public on Ebola preventive measures.

The AAG in collaboration with some media houses recently issued outdoor, print and radio advertisements that encourage hygienic practices and the need to avoid actions that put the population at risk of contagious diseases such as Ebola.

“I take this opportunity to urge the CIMG to add its voice to this call.

"It is bad enough that Cholera, which has had this year, perhaps the worst number of recorded cases in 30 years, hits us this badly in the 21 st century”, he declared.

He added that the AAG will continue to contribute towards efforts in ensuring the health and safety of the population to make them productive to the nation.

The Ebola outbreak has taken the lives of over 4,500 in West Africa, affecting mostly persons in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.

Nigeria was on Monday declared Ebola-free by the World Health Organization after it was affected following the visit of an infected Liberian diplomat to the country in July. Story by Ghana/Myjoyonline.com
