The Rotary Club of Accra-Dzorwulu has organized a free medical outreach for over two hundred people in the Pig Farm, Maamobi, Kotobabi and its environs in the Greater Accra region.

The project dubbed “Medic Access” is one of a series of projects planned by the Rotary Club to impact on the lives of people living in the catchment areas where it operates.

The event which came off at the forecourt of the Maestro building in Pig Farm screened beneficiaries for Hepatitis B, Diabetes, high blood pressure and body mass index. They were also provided with basic medication and counseling by seasoned doctors who are part of the club.

In an interview with Myjoyonline, President of the Accra-Dzorwulu Rotary Club, Yvonne Ablorh-Quarcoo said access to healthcare is the number one priority of the club.

According to her, “Medic Access” is borne out of the club's desire to make a contribution in one of the most relevant focus areas in [healthcare] which is disease prevention and treatment”.

Ms. Ablorh-Quarcoo underscored the need for Ghanaians to take their health seriously and seek medical attention anytime they fall ill.

“We realize the early detection is the best way to stop any medical problem and provide appropriate solution to it hence the screening” she added.

The Accra-Dzorwulu Rotary Club is one of the recent additions to the Rotary Clubs in Ghana after it received its charter in March, 2014.

Its repertoire of volunteer activities include donation of a library and books to a basic school in Dzorwulu and participation in the National Polio Immunization drive.
