OCT 18, 2014 LISTEN

NPP General Secretary has warned that in accordance with electoral rules, any voter who publicly shows which candidate he voted for on his ballot paper will have his vote nullified.

Kwabena Agyepong who was on Joy FM's Saturday news analysis show, Newsfile, reiterated this as 141,000 delegates go to the polls to choose a flagbearer for the 2016 Presidential elections.

Three candidates –Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Francis Addai-Nimo are vying for the honour to lead the party in the next elections.

Overseeing the process, the administrative chief of the party has explained that displaying choices publicly constitutes a form of campaigning on voting day – a practice barred by not only the party's electoral regulations but also Ghana's electoral laws.

He hailed the process involving a record number of delegates, as the “most elaborate” internal party elections in Ghana and a trailblazer among African democracies. Story by Ghana|Myjoyonline|Edwin Appiah|[email protected]
