Nduom Shows The Way

Feature Article Nduom Shows The Way
OCT 18, 2014 LISTEN

The date was Saturday, 17th March 2012 and the occasion was the St. Augustine's College 83rd speech and prize-giving day.

I sat among the many old boys and guests as Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, a member of the APSU 1971 year group walked to the podium and announced his intention of building a modern dormitory for his alma mater. Some were sceptical, but I believed it and indeed thanked him publicly in an article written in October 2012 titled: “Celebrating Augusco”.

The Groupe Nduom Foundation funded the GHS 500,000 project. The foundation is funded by contributions from the Groupe Nduom Companies which include - First National Savings and Loans, Coconut Grove Hotel, and Gold Coast Securities, among others.

The facility which was consecrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Rev. Mathias Nketsia was commissioned on Saturday, October 11th, 2014.

Today I thank the Almighty Father that I am alive to see this honourable gentleman honour his pledge. Very worthy example! I join the rest of APSU and society in saluting Dr. Nduom.

Dr Nduom, who is a business consultant, is married to Yvonne Nduom an accomplished management specialist. The couple have four children Nana Kweku, Edjah, Papa Wassa and Nana Aba.

Dr Nduom was the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP).

ST. AUGUSTINE'S PAST STUDENTS' UNION (APSU)
APSU is an association of Augusco's Alumni. Its membership is open to individual Associates and Honorary Members who subscribe to the aims and objectives of the association or have demonstrated a genuine interest in the College and its activities over the years.

APSU's mission is to promote and foster a dynamic, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship between the College and its alumni; enlist and encourage alumni support for the School; sustain a spirit of excitement in our alma mater; and provide opportunities for alumni to connect with each other through meaningful programmes and activities.

It is only through the combined efforts of APSU, the Board of Governors, the PTA and the school administration that remarkable outcomes can be achieved. Let each and every one of us be part of the process of building a strong Union which will reflect in the fortunes of the school.

We should constantly strive to grow and enhance APSU. We should work hard to strengthen the loyalty, pride, and tradition that translates into perseverance conquers all – “Omnia Vincit Labor”.
