NPP Delegates, "Do Not Let Green Grass Fool You. Vote Nana"

NPP Delegates, Do Not Let Green Grass Fool You. Vote Nana
17.10.2014 LISTEN

This appeal goes to you, our enlightened and highly esteemed delegates who have been in the vanguard in our efforts to get Ghanaians emancipated from the shackles of slavery and poverty. The battle to get you become part of the decision making body in the New Patriotic Party has not been easy. It took the spirited efforts of determined party men and women who are visionary in outlook to get us to this stage. It was led by the indisputable and indefatigable man of the moment and the Golden Fish in Ghanaian Politics, the icon and the acclaimed leader Ghanaians are all yearning for. He is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. And as you all know, goldfish has no hiding place.

On Saturday, 18th October, 2014, you will all be called upon to perform another patriotic duty to the New Patriotic Party and Mother Ghana. For sure, we cannot postpone to tomorrow what we can do for the people of this Great Nation of ours.

The onus lies on you to discharge this onerous duty with circumspection. Please do not be fooled by green grass for therein lies the vicious snake. It might even harbour the Ebola virus. Whichever direction you choose to go will ompact either positively or negatively the fortunes of the NPP in the December, 2016 General Elections.

I therefore make this passionate appeal to you to reflect deeply before deciding on your choice of candidate. Weall know that History has a way of bringing out a personality whose intellectual and business acumen coupled with his pragmatism and mesmerizing personality as well as his rain making skills could change the tide and turn defeat into victory. That personality is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

I therefore urge you all in the interest of party cohesion and the prospects of a sound electoral victory in the December, 2016 Presidential Elections to vote for this great man of History and the most viable of the aspirants. We need a man who can dance to the rhythm of different sounds – a man who can dribble a little bit to the right and a little bit to the left. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is the powerhouse who is carved in the mould of Wilberforce Kwadwo Mfum, Kwesi Owusu and has the dribbling skills of Baba Yara, Osei Kofi and Mohammed Polo. With him at the arrowhead of our attack, we shall inflict a decisive defeat on our opponent on the other side of the political divide.

My passionate appeal to you is devoid of any ulterior motive. You all know me as a patriot who started fighting injustice right from childhood. And I say Nana is what Ghanaians need at the moment. We need him to cleanse the Augean Stable of the mess created by the Nefarious Destructive Cancer.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo deserves your vote because he spearheaded the crusade which led to your empowerment as a kingmaker in the party. The crusade to expand the delegates to elect the Presidential Candidate of the party was led by him.

My brothers and Sisters: It is because of him that you can stand up today to thump your chest and shout, “Today, I am also somebody in the party.” While Nana and his acolytes were busy pursuing your cause with so much vigour as if their entire lives depended on it, one aspiring flag bearer, together with his supporters was doing everything possible to prevent you from being what you are today.

His reason? – That you are one of the proletariats and do not belong to the Bourgeoisie's class. You see how wicked and egoistic some individuals could degenerate into! But today, because this man needs your votes, he is making all sorts of damaging and unsubstantiated allegations against the man who has empowered you to become what you are today. Wonders, they say, shall never end.

Does such a person deserve any sympathy? None at all! The day of reckoning is here. It is payback time. I urge you to use your newly acquired power to punish this man who has kept you in political obscurity for far too long. And the time to do it is now!!

When Ghanaians have cried Nana Akufo Addo has wept. No human being is infallible. Nana is not God. He has his faults and has made mistakes. But even here, the mistakes he made were due to the fact that he wanted to do better.

Who can match his oratorical and problem solving skills? None at the moment! Talk of corruption and Nana stands tall amongst a list of top personalities within and outside the country. Whilst other political appointees accepted State Lands in the choicest parts of the capital from Government, Nana rejected those allocated to him. The NDC has conducted an in-depth forensic audit on his tenure as both the Attorney General/ Minister of Justice and Foreign Minister with a toothcomb. Nothing negative was found against him.

Isn't it a sense of pride to know that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the most promising of those vying for the Presidential slot of the New Patriotic Party once presided over deliberations of the Security Council on the Arab-Israeli Conflict? His pragmatic handling of the proceedings endeared him to the hearts of both parties and the deliberations ended with the parties patting each other on the back and signing a new peace deal. Who say man no dey?

My brothers and sisters who would be called upon to make this gargantuan decision come Saturday, 18th October, 2016: Just hear me out. This one aspirant I am talking about has been casting aspersions on the character and credibility of our golden fish, and winnable candidate. Yes, this aspirant claims Nana has lost the Presidential Elections twice. His acolytes are also singing the same tune. Yet it is this same aspirant who went on air to proclaim it loud and clear that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo had indeed won the 2012 Presidential Election. Can we trust such a man? Definitely no! Is this man genuinely seeking the interest of the party or has been brought in by the ruling Nefarious Destructive Cancer to rock our boat midstream?

Even when this same aspirant got some people to masquerade as NPP members and took the party to court on the impending delegates' congress coming up this Saturday, the lawyers they engaged to defend their cause happened to come from the NDC stables.

Our highly esteemed delegates should know that this man who claims to hold the key to our party's victory has never contested and won an election before. The two elections he took part in were intra party ones and on the second occasion, he was badly battered and bruised. He adopted the “siddon look/attitude of the sage or Cicero of Oke Esa, late Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Nigeria Chief Bolaji Ige during Election 2012 and the period of the Election Petition because he swallowed line, hook and sinker, the promise of the NDC that it would sponsor him to obtain the coveted top position in the World Trade Organization – A promise the ruling NDC Government was not meant to keep. His name did not even appear on the list of nominees. Can you put the destiny of our Great Party and for that matter the entire nation into the hands of this man?

This particular NPP aspirant who is beating war drums was given a plush portfolio in Kufuor's Cabinet. Do you know if he has any skeleton in his cupboard especially with his handling of the presidential initiatives? I shudder to think what will happen if delegates mistakenly make him our flag bearer.

It is to avert such a calamity that I appeal to your conscience not to make the mistake of giving your votes to this entity whose kingdom is fast shrinking at a geometric rate. Have you bothered to find out why his core support base is deserting him like feathers flying before a windstorm? Yesterday, it was Kofi Jumah, Steve Ntim, Joe Ghartey, Chairman Wuntumi; Today, it is Asamoah Boateng, Steve Amoah, Buabeng Asamoah, John Kumah and a host of others. Tomorrow, it might even be Ohene Ntow, Hilda Addor, and Katakyie Opoku Agyemang who might be singing discordant tunes.

Do you know why this aspirant has become a General without an army? Well, I will not say much but a bird whispered to me that he runs his campaign as if he was the repository of all knowledge. This aspirant who claims he will put all elected officials of the party on a payroll now complains of Akufo Addo poaching his support base with cars. You see the contradiction here?

Come to talk about the so-called tapes, and Nana Ohene Ntow boasts of releasing more concocted tapes. As far as we are concerned, he can go to the moon and concoct all sorts of stories about Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, it will not change anything. But wait a minute! Did I hear you well? What would be the benefit to Ohene Ntow if such tapes are released? Is he not giving ammunitions to the NDC to be used against our Great Party? And the media he has chosen to make his comments and press releases are all in the stables of the Nefarious Destructive Cancer.

But we are not perturbed. Doesn't it strike you as odd that one of their members was a Cabinet Minister in Kufuor's regime who attended a Conference on Aids in the United States? Yes, the Conference was on how to prevent the scourge of Aid from ravaging Third World Countries. But this man went and had unprotected sex with one of the participants' right at the time the conference was being held and had a baby born out of wedlock. And this man has been pontificating over Nana's affairs by making all sorts of reckless allegations. One has to beware of such men of morality. They discourse like angels, but live like men.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has not made any disparaging remarks about any aspirant since he started seeking the mandate of the party to become its flag bearer. Yet this particular aspirant and his support base has turned Nana into a punching bag and all sorts of allegations are flying left and right from his stables. What does he hope to gain by that? Giving ammunition to the Nefarious Destructive Cancer to be used against Nana after he has eventually clinched the flag bearer ship? This particular aspirant knows deep down in his heart that he is going to lose miserably, yet he remains in the race and comes up with baseless and reckless allegations on hourly basis. What does he hope to gain? We demand an answer. Can he in all sincerity join Nana on his campaign train after the battle has been fought and won?

Do you know why people are gravitating towards this great man of history, this icon who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but has chosen to lead a crusade to emancipate the masses from the clutches of poverty, slavery and disease?

It is an open secret that Nana is going to win and win handsomely. But the question is by what percentage? And that is why I am asking you, our esteemed delegates to give Nana your overwhelming support.

Yes, this man simply referred to as Nana, this mentor cast in the mould of De Clerk, Nelson Mandela, Yes,this man has what it is to tick. Nana's deft movement on the political terrain is what baffles politicians from both sides of the political divide. You might choose to hate him but the positive aura sorrounding his personality is enough to make any thought of hatred dissipate from one's body. There is always a kind and peaceful miem around his person. Yes, this is the man that if you cannot beat, you have to join him. And this is exactly what the likes of Joe Ghartey and Osei Ameyaw have done. Like Paul of Tarsus the two and many others have seen the light and have now joined the fastest moving train on the political terrace.

The antics of those who detest Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo's innate leadership skills/abilities are comparable to the ranting of political failures. He is the right person who will unite the entire citizenry without anyone feeling marginalized. Nana will not allow this Great Nation of ours to hemorrhaged to death

We are not only thinking of the party's primaries to elect a leader. We are looking beyond that. And this is the reason why I urge you delegates to give Nana a resounding victory which will be the talk of the town for the next couple of weeks. Nana has the ability to deliver and build bridges across both sides of the political divide. He will introduce innovations into the presidency which at the moment is in a state of comatose. He will introduce and implement people-oriented policies into governance.

As a person well-bred and fully groomed in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, he has the qualities of both Saul and David melted together in him. Saul's appointment as the First King of Israel was widely acclaimed by all. David's ascension to the throne followed the same pattern. Did the women of Israel not sing, “Saul has killed his thousands, and David his Ten Thousands”?

Yes, this is a man who has dedicated his entire life into fighting injustice. Yes, this is the man who has given most of what he has to the cause of the party and the country. This is the man who lost the flag-bearer race to ex-President Kufuor but called on his supporters to rally round Kufuor.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has a big role to play at this crucial period in Ghana's history. He has served his party and the country with dedication and selflessness. He does what he says he will do. An overwhelming endorsement of him by the over 140,000 delegates will be the First Step in our aggressive march towards recapturing power at the centre and a return to the “Good Old Days” Ghanaians enjoyed under the NPP Government led by ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Dear delegates, in casting your votes, you must remember that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has been part of the solution and not part of the problem. He has scored many “As” and will do it again, if given the opportunity. There is a Future and there is Hope in that Future. That Future is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
