Nana Addo and Kwesi Bonzoh
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who is seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party in the 2016 general elections, has indicated that Ghanaians deserve better governance than what the current government is offering.

He noted that it is pathetic that the current NDC government, prior to the last general elections, promised the people better Ghana but had brought untold hardship on Ghanaians.

According to him, the current government has all that it takes to improve the living standards of Ghanaians.

He bemoaned the fact that contrary to this, corruption has become the order of the day under the President John Mahama-led government.

“I am therefore offering myself to be elected as flagbearer of the NPP and subsequently the President of Ghana, to help deliver the country from the current hardships,” he added.

Nana Addo stated this when he addressed delegates of the party from Ellembelle, Jomoro and Evalue-Gwira at Ayinase yesterday.

Nana Addo was in the Western Region for a two-day campaign to appeal to the delegates to vote massively for him to lead the NPP to victory in 2016.

“I have always said that I am not into politics to amass wealth but to help better the lives of Ghanaians,” he stressed.

He told the delegates from the three constituencies to vote massively for him on Saturday to send a signal to the NDC that the NPP was solidly behind one candidate.

“Ghanaians are going through lots of difficulties; there are no jobs, no money in people's pockets, but Ghana can do better under the next NPP government,” he noted.

He stated, “Give me the chance to change things for the better as Alhassan Outarra, who is two years older than me, is doing in Ivory Coast.”

Power Cut
To the amazement of the large crowd who thronged the forecourt of the Ayinase community centre to listen to Nana Addo, lights went out when Nana was delivering his address.

Most of the people described what happened as a deliberate act of sabotage.

They could not fathom why the light did not go out when the other speakers were making their remarks.

The situation made Nana Addo to stop his address until power was restored.

The NPP supporters therefore shouted for joy when an electricity generator was later brought to restore power.

Nana Speaks French
Aware of the fact that most Nzemas in the area had lived in Ivory Coast before, Nana Addo rattled the French language at the latter part of his speech, to the admiration of the gathering.

Kwesi Bonzoh, the 2012 parliamentary candidate of the NPP in Ellembelle, who spoke to the people in the local Nzema dialect, was hopeful that the NPP would win the seat.

He therefore appealed to the people of Nzema to rally solidly behind the NPP to better their lot.

Present was Dickson Nketsiah, Western Regional Chairman of the party and Kwabena Okyrere Darko-Mensah, MP, Takoradi, as well as other party bigwigs.
