Presidential hopeful, Alan Kyerematen, has said his decision to step down for Nana Akufo-Addo in the run offs of the NPP's 2007 flagbearership contest, is a sign of his leadership credentials.

“…I decided unconditionally that for the sake of unity of the party, I'd rather support my brother Nana Akufo-Addo to contest. That is the mark of leadership”, the former Minister of Trade and Industries told local media in the Volta Region where he is campaigning ahead of the party's October 18 mega congress to elect a flagbearer for the 2016 national elections.

“That is when you talk about somebody who is prepared to sacrifice his personal ambition to promote the cause of the party as a whole. That is when you are showing leadership”, Kyerematen stressed.

Kyerematen said delegates of the party should consider his record as a person who is willing to sacrifice his personal ambitions for the benefit of the larger group, to vote for him.

The former Ambassador to the United States is in the race for the third time after failing twice against the former Attorney General, who is also seeking to win the standard-bearer slot for a third consecutive time to lead the party into a third consecutive national polls.
