Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District Assembly Name Streets

The District Chief Executive of the Bunkpurugu Yunyoo District, Hon Philip N. Laari , has explained that, the directives of the President on the street Naming and property addressing system is properly being implemented. Hon Laari noted that over twenty principal streets at Bunkpurugu in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District have been assigned names in the first phase of the nationwide Street Naming and Property Numbering (SNPN) exercise.

The DCE , added that, the benefits of the project is to ease identification and as well improve on the socio economic development of the area , especially on the collections of internally generated funds of the Assembly. Let me add that, this project would equally help us as Assembly to be more informed especially on infrastructure and issues that are of concern to the residents in the district.

We are putting all the necessary measures to ensure that, the exercise continues to other communities in the district. DCE added.

Laari used the opportunity to thank, the Paramount Chief of the Bimoba Traditional area Naa Alhaji Abuba Nasinmong and his sub-chiefs for the cooperation and contribtutions they made towards the street naming project. The DCE however thanked, Hon Joseph Bipoba Naabu, MP for Yunyoo Constituency for his support and advice in the ongoing exercise.

The District Coordinating Director , Mr. James T. Moari , confirmed to the reporter that, the District has taken the President directives with all seriousness and that is how come Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District is amongst the first district in the Northern region who have complied with the President communicate.

Mr. James Moari, expressed that, the, Assembly faced challenges in the collections of IGF and was hopeful that, this project would be a road map to boost the collections of IGF.

Mr. Ambrose B.A Salifu, who is the District Planning Officer, and chairman of SNAT, Street Naming Addressing Team in the Assembly said about 14 streets has already been named and the poles are erected at vantage points where people can easily see the directions.

Mr. Ambrose, revealed that, as the exercise continues more streets are going to be named in the district capital and other towns within the districts. His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, somewhere this year tasked all Districts, Metros and Municipal Assemblies to name streets by the end of September 2014 and that, districts who would fail to comply with this directives would have themselves to be blamed.
