Japanese Government Contributes To Ghanas Ebola Prevention And Management Efforts

October, 1st, 2014, Accra - The Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has handed over 150,000 posters and 150,000 brochures to the Ghana Health Service to be distributed to community people including those who are living in urban and rural areas across the country.

The communication materials contain simple and easy-to-understand information that will help readers protect themselves from contracting the Ebola disease.

JICA is also supporting some of the very critical areas in line with Ghana's National Preparedness and Response Plan for prevention and control of Ebola. JICA is currently procuring some laboratory equipment, non-contact hand-held thermometers, reagents and Personal Protection Equipment for diagnosis and confirmation of Ebola.

JICA has been supporting to mobilize and organize communities, including community activities and strengthened Community Health and Planning Services (CHPS) system to improve primary health care through the technical assistance in Upper West and dispatching a Community Health Policy Advisor in Ghana Health Services.

On the international scene, JICA is actively engaged with other organizations that are actively fighting the spread of Ebola in the West African sub-region. JICA is committed to mutual cooperation and resolve to collectively leverage resources to help prevent and manage Ebola.
