Parliament has postponed approval of Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah as Trade and Industry Minister to Thursday October 2.

Joy News' Parliamentary Correspondent, Elton John Brobbey explains the House pushed debate for Dr Spio-Garbrah's approval to tomorrow as part of parliamentary procedure.

President John Mahama in July nominated the former Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), as Minister for Trade and Industry.

Mr. Spio-Grabrah will be taking over from Haruna Iddrissu (MP), who has been moved to the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.

Parliament is currently on recess, but met at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) Wednesday for an emergency sitting.

The emergency sitting ends Friday.
The House during the three-day sitting will also consider some loans contracted by government.

Meanwhile, Alban Bagbin has been sworn in as Majority Leader, following approval of Dr Benjamin Kumbuor – who was holding that position – as Minister for Defence.

Mr Babgin was the Majority Leader in the Parliament in 2009, but following a cabinet reshuffle in January 2010, he was appointed Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing by late President John Evans Atta Mills.
