Kofi Poturphy , the coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), says members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) want him to become the next national chairman of the party.

According to him, his chances of winning the national chairmanship position of the NDC were bright.

The fact that the majority of the party members want to me to become the next national chairman of the NDC does not mean that the party is changing a winning team, he said.

“All of us are members of the winning team from the polling station agents to the national executives, every one played critical role in ensuring the party's victory in the last general elections,' he explained.

He disclosed this in an interview with DAILY GUIDE after interacting with some NDC delegates in the Western Region behind closed doors yesterday.

Mr Poturphy travelled to the region for a four-day campaign to interact with the party's members and delegates ahead of the party's next national congress.

“It's a constitutional provision and a democratic principle that there should be fresh elections after every four years and so there is nothing wrong for me to contest for the position,' he explained.

He pointed out that the nation was facing many challenges and that the party needed someone like him who could help provide solutions to the problems.

The aspirant cited the collapse of the Ghana Railways, poor road network, lack of jobs, as some challenges confronting the nation.

'Creating jobs has become a major problem and I think as a party we should complement the efforts of the government to solve this problem,' he added.

Mr. Poturphy, who is also the National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), stated that if the NDC government delivers to the satisfaction of Ghanaians, the party would easily win the next general elections.

Mr Poturphy indicated that as a unifier, he would work hard to unite the party's members, particularly the aggrieved ones.

He was optimistic President John Dramani Mahama would win a second term in office under his leadership.

Mr. Poturphy later met cadres in Western Region and paid a courtesy on the Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo.
