Tigo Provides Digital Support To Domestic Violence Secretariat

The Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dela Sowah, has commended telecom operator, Tigo for providing ICT services to connect the Domestic Violence Secretariat of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

During a courtesy call on the CEO of Tigo, the Deputy Minister,was full of praise for the network provider. She explained about a year ago, Tigo responded to a request by the Ministry and supported them with modems, handsets, a router and monthly airtime for 1 year to digitally connect and empower them to engage with various stakeholders.

“Since Tigo's support we are able to interact with our stakeholders by making and receiving calls and accessing the internet. We communicate regularly with our staff across the country and beyond.

The CEO for Tigo Ghana, Roshi Motman, said Tigo will increase its support to the Secretariat. “I am delighted to hear from the Ministry that we have empowered them to stay confidently connected. As a digital lifestyle brand we truly believe in the enormous benefits of the digital age and the Ministry plays an essential role in ensuring social protection and inclusion particularly for vulnerable groups and need our support, she said.

The Deputy Minister in the company of officials from the Domestic Violence Secretariat presented a citation to Tigo's CEO which in parts read “…among others the provision of voice and data services has made it possible for us to reach over 1000 women and youth with useful information and resources on how to keep safe, prevent violence or seek redress…”
