Vice President KwesiAmissah Arthur, on Saturday afternoon urged traditional chiefs in the Greater Region to bury their differences and minimize the numerous reports on land and chieftaincy disputes in the country.

The Vice President noted that the unending chieftaincy conflicts in the country have propelled potential investors and has slowed development in some parts of the country.

VEEP therefore urged the traditional chiefs to reduce reports on land and chieftaincy disputes in the country inorder to attract investors in to the country.

He said this when he joined the chiefs and people of Ga-Dangme to celebrate this year's “Homofest 2014”tocommemoratethe World Tourism Day in Accra.

The creation of jobs, according to VEEP,continue to remain a challenge partlybecause of the activities of land guards which has created insecurity scaring away both domestic and foreign investors.

He therefore urged the traditional chiefs to use dialogue to resolves any act of violence and use festivals as ways to promote development in their respective traditional area.

VEEP said since June, this year, his government had had to deal with the cholera outbreak which claimed so many livesin some parts of the country.

Vice President KwesiAmissah Arthur called for collaboration between the chief and the various assemblies to mobilize the support of the people to help clean their communities.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts indicated that this year's "Homofest" seeks to stimulate peace and love among the Ga-Dangme people, the society and nation at large.

She said the festival which was mooted by His Excellency President John DramaniMahama would be an annual event to foster unity, security and stability for future generations.

According to the sector minister, the celebration the festivalsbrings people from all corridors of live to reflect on their experiences, challenges and to chart a path of progress for the Ga-Dangme people.

The festival, which was on the theme: “Unity and Development,” brought all the chiefs and people of Ga-Dangme to showcase the rich culture and tradition through their history, songs, stories, rituals and dance.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare noted her outfit thought it wise to package “Homofest” to generate an upsurge in tourism visitation and help transform the local economies of the host communities.

With support from President Mahama and her outfit, she indicated, launched the Domestic Tourism Promotion drive and has taken other initiatives in the promotion of the creative industry to achieve its set targets.
