By Nana Asem Bi Nti
Press Release Okyeman Youth Association Asks Eastern Regional Police Commander To Wake Up
SEP 29, 2014 LISTEN

The lives of the people in Eastern Region are in danger now. Our people are not safe anymore to move about freely in the Eastern Region, due to recent murder and criminal cases recorded in some Akyem Communities.

Lots of murder and criminal cases are going on in the Eastern Region and we want the Regional Commander to strengthen security in the region, especially the following areas: ATIWA, FANTEAKWA AND WEST AKYEM.

For the past two weeks, the Akyem communities have suffered series of murder and criminal cases which has stroked fear into residents and travelers in these Akyem communities. There was a woman beheaded around Asamankese, Akyem Abomosu also suffered similar murder case and not more than two days an Okada rider was also murdered around Akyem Asuom.

As a result of that, the market women are afraid to wake up early as they usually do to transport their food crops to the Capital city Accra for business.

Also , drivers and travelers fears to move at night to transact businesses as they have been doing daily. It has affected business in our various towns.

We know the Regional Police Commander would respond to this in order for our people to have a sound peace of mind from fear of movement in our Region and Towns.

We are also advising the people in our various towns to take certain precautions and not to walk alone at night. They should move in groups especially at night and any device for defense must be available on them.

We are appealing to our Chiefs, Leaders, Assembly Members and the Youth in the various communities to do well to form watchdog committees.

Okyeman Youth Association is expressing its condolence to the victims' bereaved families.
