Remember the victims of your irresponsible spending

Since the Daily Graphic broke the story about the Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative( CHRAJ Lauretta Lamptey ,I have been thinking and wondering if the news making rounds about the commissioner is true. This is because what she is alleged to have spent in 33 months on rent can buy a two five or four bedroom house with three or two and a half bath in about 45 states of US except a few that runs into millions. These payments is spread up to 30 to 35 years to complete payments.

The story is that the commissioner lived in a rented Africa Union Village house for $ 5.500 a month for 33 months and after the expiration of her lease ,she has now moved into a hotel at the rate of $ 456.25 a day.

That was a shocker to say the least.
I really doubt if Ms Lamptey is financially discipline judging from the irresponsible manner she has wasted state funds on herself . But this is someone who has served in various positions with Ecobank, Cal Merchant Bank and former Member of Board of Directors of Ghana Commercial Bank. In the early days of the second coming of Rawlings some high military officers lost their lifes for using their position to secure a bank loan for personal use.

I partially blame the government for creating the situation and the commissioner rightly took advantage to exploit the nation just like everyone else is doing and order of the day. How on earth does the government by pass all the practicing lawyers and judges to tap someone who lived and work in the US for a position many Ghanaians have the requisite qualification and experience. Her predecessors Emile Short and Anna Bossman were both tapped locally for the same position and they performer effectively especially Emile Short who investigated the late P V Obeng, Colonel Osei Wusu, Ibrahim Adam and one other person who were all government functionaries for financial impropriates.

Equally unfortunate is the government hired this lady without making provision for her accommodation so Ms Lamptey decided that she was going to live in a luxury house which under normal circumstances she cannot afford on her own, because her rent allowance of $ 4,500.00 a month is $ 1,000.00 less than what she was paying at the African Union Village. And to add insult to injury she moved into a hotel costing $ 456.25 a day.

Another question is what is taking the government and the contractor undertaking the rehabilitation of the home more than 33 months to complete thereby given room to this insensitive Ms Lamptey to abuse her office. The different Ministries ,housing,finance and justices have questions to answer if the government is serious about a lot misuse of public funds for personal use.

Almost a month ago I attended a ceremony in Atlanta ,Georgia and I stayed in a 5 star Marriot hotel and there were two queen beds , a bath ,toilet and other facilities for family's comfort and therefore do not see what kind of children she has that makes it impossible or difficult for her to rent a place which is affordable. I stayed in the same hotel with a regional minister from Ghana who was the guest speaker.

I lived in a state in the US , the Governor John Kasick has resided in his private home since 2012 and drove his private car daily to work until he is on official duty then he will be driven to the assignment. I have even meant him at the gas station once or twice. That is a modest state functionary.

Ms Lamptey, the commissioner of CHRAJ, had some of her tertiary education and worked in the United States and she is aware that if she has taken the people for a ride in that manner here in the US by now she will have no job and will be getting ready to serve some jail time. The film stars in Manhattan(New York),Beverley Hills and Hollywood in(California) and Key West ( Florida) are just a few places in the US where the stars compete who live the largest and the nicest houses , but they can afford it. So what excuse does this nation wrecker has for spending and wasting state funds on her.

Ms Lamptey has no morals or shame and she is a disgrace and embarrassment to her family and law profession . Am saying this judging from the fact that she made attempt to justify her irresponsible bahaviour that she has no where to go. While that show how irresponsible the commissioner is and how government appoint immatured representatives to sensitive positions to loot. They come to positions very poor and ordinarily but leave office with millions and houses of their own. This is clear case why government should appointed matured individuals for public office instead of the students.

She is also entrenched in her position refusing to resign or step aside . Her case is the most topical in radio and the print media with most civil and educated population including members of the governing party asking her to resigned before she is fired to saved her integrity which she has none

I hope Ms Lamptey will remember the victims of her irresponsible spending .Her victims are the orphans, pupils who continue to attend classes under trees and dilapidated structures, rural communities that lack basic clinics and libraries , pay fees and award scholarships to students who are very intelligent but their parents get them admission to schools and colleges among others. These are the victims of your irresponsible financial life style which you cannot maintain on your own so you take advantage of the system failure and where there are no checks and balances.
