Golf Otumfuo Opens Latex Foam Hole 17 At Royal Golf Club
SEP 23, 2014 LISTEN

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Saturday morning defied a slight rainfall to visit the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi where he cut the tape to officially open the newly-refurbished Hole 17 on the greens of the club.

Hole 17 had developed some deformities, as the grass was dry and parts of the hole looked soggy, thereby creating some difficulties for golfers.

Latex Foam Rubber Products Limited, which has been associated with the Royal Golf Club for the past 20 years, therefore decided to re-design Hole 17 just to make golfing easier and enjoyable for golfers.

The management of Latex Foam engaged the services of experts who laid underground pipes to ensure that there is free flow of water on the greens.

Addressing the gathering, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, showered praises on Latex Foam for always contributing immensely to the proper development of Royal Golf Club and other sporting facilities in the country.

The Asante King, himself an astute golfer, admitted that the messy nature of Hole 17 was risky for golfers that played on the course in the past, stating that he was highly impressed about the work done on the hole by Latex Foam.

Otumfuo, who was beaming with smiles, urged Latex Foam to sustain its good works, especially in the transformation of sports in the country, saying that 'indeed Latex Foam deserves commendation'.

The tape-cutting ceremony was witnessed by top personalities including Ghana Golf Association president, Dr. Kwabena Frempong. Latex Foam was represented by Gloria Poku, Isaac Offei and Wahid Hage.

The company has over the past 20 years been supporting Royal Golf Club in Kumasi in diverse ways. It is responsible for organizing the annual Kumasi Open Golf Championship for the past two decades.

Latex Foam is also on record as having supported the Royal Golf Club in areas such as the painting of the club and sponsoring of golf tournaments among other interventions, geared towards promoting golf in the country.
