Son of Ghana's first president, Dr. Francis Nkrumah has emphasized the need for the African continent to re-examine and implement his father's ideologies.

Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had a vision of uniting the African continent as one country and even began various initiatives to transform Ghana into an industrialized nation.

He said the continent would continue to struggle in its development agenda if it fails to pursue those ideas.

Dr. Francis Nkrumah told Joy FM's Joseph Opoku Gakpo that presently, he feels the continent and its people have indeed missed his father.

“I feel presently, that Africa, we have missed him; we will continue to miss him unless we go back and revisit what Nkrumah actually meant for Ghana and for Africa.”

Dr. Francis Nkrumah was with family members and friends to mark Founder's Day in Accra. Sunday was the late president's 105th birthday.

He stated that “my presence, even at this gathering tells you about how deep the family and myself miss him and the articulation of his vision not only for Ghana but for the whole of Africa.”

According to him, “It is with deep emotion to realize and recognize the role he [Kwame Nkrumah] tried to play at his period when he wanted to bring the whole of the African continent together for its development.”
