Otumfuo Graces 82nd Airtel Golf

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will grace the 82nd Airtel Ghana open Amateur Golf Championship as the special guest of honour.

The championship, which teed off yesterday, is expected to end on Monday at the Kumasi Royal Golf Club.

The championship is the annual event of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) and this year's edition is being sponsored by Airtel Ghana Limited with support from the Coca Cola Bottling Company.

Other personalities to grace the cham-pionship are Alfred Baku, Executive Vice

President in charge of West Africa, Gold-fields; Mawuli Ababio, Director, Gold-fields; Larry Chinbuah, Director, WBHO Ghana; Samuel Adjei, MD, Ecobank; Edward Botchway, Innocent Yao Ametame and Lucy Quist, Airtel MD.

The rest are Frank Aidoo – Calbank MD, Arvinder Singh – Sethi Steel Compa-ny, Dr Oteng – Angel Group of Compa-nies; Dr Yaw Akoto – Surfline, George Bansah – Coca Cola, Steve Tabil – New-mont, Raj Sharma – Rack Africa, Charles Janney – Unilever and Regina Glover -TATA Africa.

President of the GGA, Dr Felix K. Frempong, commended the telecommunication company for coming on board to sponsor the competition.

He said the Ghana Open is an annual event which is organized to coincide with the birth date of Ghana's former President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He explained that the competition is the premier event of the GGA and this year's edition is expected to attract about 100 golfers from almost 18 golf clubs in the country
