CPP GCPP leader pokes nose into NDC affairs; backs Ade Coker's reelection
SEP 19, 2014 LISTEN

2012 presidential candidate of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey has revealed he will openly campaign for the re-election of Joseph Ade Coker as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The leader and Chairman of the GCPP claims the other aspirants are not qualified enough to compete against Mr. Ade Coker who was once the Board Chairman of Accra Great Olympics Football Club and the incumbent regional chairman.

As the race for the Greater Accra Regional chairmanship position hots up, some candidates have alleged conspiracy by powerful individuals in the party to get them dropped from the race.

Mr. Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, a lead contender for the position has been tipped by political pundits and watchers to win slot. But Dr. Lartey says he lacks the necessary competence and leadership skills to lead the party at the regional level.

He claimed the best candidate is the one the masses are crying and willing to vote for and work with, in the person of Mr. Ade Coker.

He described Mr. Ade Coker as an embodiment of peace and a man with great potentials.

He indicated: “No party can win elections with division among its members; they need to work as one people, one team to win an election and Mr. Ade Coker is the best candidate among the contenders.”

Dr. Lartey is convinced after monitoring the NDC's campaign over the last few months, Mr. Ade Coker's messages are well tailored to the appropriate quarters without insults and attacks.

“He is already the chairman of the Accra NDC if you ask me,” Dr. Lartey told this reporter.

The NDC's regional delegates election is scheduled for this October. The contestants for the Accra chairmanship are Mr. Joseph Ade-Coker, Mr. Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, a businessman, Mr. Daniel Amarty Mensah, former MCE for LEKMA, Mr. Nii Tackie Commey, a former MP for Odododiodoo and Mr. Stephen Akwetey.

When asked whether he was not meddling in the NDC's affairs, he quickly responded, “No I am only supporting my longtime friend and do not care what others will think or say about me,” he answered.
