The Public Accounts Committee has given the Bank of Ghana seven days to explain the construction of a fence wall by the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso at a cost of $656,248.48.

The expenditure was revealed in BoG's 2013 foreign exchange receipt payment presented to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.

Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Millison Narh who appeared before the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday said the Bank will investigate that matter immediately

Deputy ranking member on the committee George Loh who first raised the issues demanded clarity on the “colossal” cost of the project.

Joining the deputy ranking member to express shock, a bemused Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, who chairs the committee, asked “600,000? dollars? for a wall?

The Deputy Governor conceded that the amount was on the “high side”.
