FGJ Calls For An Investigation By Parliament Into The Alleged Misconduct Of CHRAJ Commissioner

The hollowness and porosity of quality leadership is what has been deficient in the daily running of our public institutions as a continent and as a nation which consequentially slows the pace of our development as a society. It is more appalling to see this same deficiency permeate the leadership of our noble Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The CHRAJ Commissioner has recently come under serious barrage of attacks for monstrously exhibiting veritable incompetence in the administration of her duties, hence the mal functioning of the commission.

The commissioner according to reports has also sunk a whooping $148,500 in 33 months of rent – from November 2011 to April 2014. This amount spent by the CHRAJ Commissioner on only rent at the AU Village amounts to a financial rascality and excessive misappropriation of scarce resources which should not be countenanced by a very serious society.

It has also not been denied by the commissioner herself that she lives in a hotel at daily rate of $456.25, a cost the state pays because there are delays with renovation of her official residence.

Forum for Governance and Justice (FGJ) is appealing to the parliament of Ghana to initiate investigations into these serious allegationsagainst the CHRAJ Commissioner and make progressive recommendations for proper action to be initiated to ensure that CHRAJ is working and seen to be doing same.

Our state institutions cannot be allowed to be run the way it is been done by the CHRAJ commissioner. Sanity must prevail if we indeed want to chart a path of development as a nation.
