2012 presidential candidate of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey has revealed he willopenly campaign for his longtime friend Joseph Ade Coker to become the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the second time.

The leader and Chairman of the GCPP claims the other aspirants are not qualified enough to compete against Mr. Ade Cokerwho was once the Board Chairman of Accra Great Olympics Football Club and the incumbent regional chairman.

The race for the Greater Accra Regional chairmanship position is engulfed in a lot of heat, with some candidates alleging conspiracy on the part of some powerful individuals in the party to get them dropped from the race.

Mr. Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, a lead contender for the position has been tipped by political pundits and watchers to win slot. But Dr. Lartey says helacks the necessary competence and leadership skills to lead the party at the regional level. He believes the best candidate is the one the masses are crying and willing to vote for and work with, in the person of Mr. Ade Coker.

He described Mr. Ade Coker as an embodiment of peace and a man with great potentials ifre - elected as the regional Chairman of the party ahead of the 2016 elections.

He indicated: “no party can win elections with divisions among its members; they need to work as one people, one team to win an election and Mr. Ade Coker is the best candidate among the contenders.”

Dr. Larteyis convinced after monitoring the campaign over the last few months that the messages of Mr. Ade Coker are well tailored to the appropriate quarters without insults and attacks, which is winning the hearts and minds of many NDC members.

“He is already the chairman of the Accra NDC if you ask me” Dr. Lartey told his reporter.

The NDC's national and regional delegates elections is scheduled for this October, and the other competitors challenging Mr. Joseph Ade-Coker include Mr. Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, a businessman, Mr. Daniel Amarty Mensah, former MCE for LEKMA, Mr. NiiTackieCommey and Mr. Stephen Akwetey.

When asked whether he was not meddling in the NDC's affairs, he quickly responded, “no I am only supporting my longtime friend and do not care what others will think or say about me”, he answered.
