The immediate past Nigeria Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho has called on politicians in Imo State to channel their riches towards helping those in need than sharing money unnecessarily to gain political power.

The international mariner stated this when he paid and unscheduled visit to Owerri Main Market commonly called 'Ekeonunwa' Market in Owerri metropolis where fire destroyed some shops recently.

During the visit, the Emekuku-born oil magnate said that most seekers of political offices in the state were only after controlling the common resources of the public for selfish benefits saying that that was why many people were currently vying to become the governor of the state.

While donating the sum of =N=500,000 to the victims of the inferno, the former minister appreciated the rousing welcome the crowd at the market gave him and the way large number of people accompanied him round the destroyed shops with great excitement and solidarity.

The gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state was full of emotions at the rate things were destroyed by fire in the place and prayed that the incident and other of such disasters would not happen again.

In their different speeches on behalf of the traders in the market, Mr. Chuks Agunwa and Elder Nwaneri thanked the former minister for the visit which they said was very outstanding and inspiring to them.

The visit was characterized by incessant chanting of songs of solidarity to the former minister by the large crowd that gathered to identify with it.
