Nigeria Com. Minister Woos States To Invest In ICT Development
SEP 16, 2014 LISTEN

Once again the Bayelsa Restoration style of governance in particular its widely acknowledged leverage on ICT for good governance has been praised as worthy of emulation by other states in Nigeria. Responding at the end of a dinner on the honour of participants to mark the conclusion of a successful third regular meeting of the National Council for Communication Technology NCCT holding at Yenagoa Bayelsa State Nigeria September 11-16 2014, the hardworking Minister said she was overwhelmed by Bayelsa's Hospitality and willingness to partner with her Ministry to leverage ICT in development efforts which resulted in her hosting the Third Meeting at short notice.

Recall that the second meeting was held in Akure last year and the Technical session comprising of Permanent secretaries of States in Nigeria had taken the opening days to deliberate on matters arising from that meeting. This year the theme is " Mainstreaming ICT for National development: Moving from talk to action" .

The Hon. Minister is speaking eloquently on the National policy on ICT as primarily to promote investments and funding of ICT ,Involving States brings it home and makes it more practical as Bayelsa State has pointed out through the Governor Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson who was ably represented by his Deputy Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah.

The Minister is encouraging States to own the policy and organise their own variant of policies as well as conferences to educate their citizens. Already the Federal govt has gone ahead to make electronic delivery of services possible.

Now the states can at least change their domain names to the more secure www.ng.com so that her resources can be safeguarded on line while making efforts to work out other means of cyber security. At the end of a fun filled evening showcasing the unique cultural endowments if Bayelsa State to the delight of the visitors, the Hon. Minister was honoured with a plaque showing what Bayelsa State stands for at a brief ceremony performed by the Deputy Governor on behalf of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
