The suspects in police grip
Four persons believed to be behind the incessant robbery of passengers at the Takoradi lorry park near the Kaneshie Market in Accra, have been apprehended by the Kaneshie District police.

The suspects – all unemployed – are Isaac Amoako, Lawrence Donkor, both 20 years old; Albert Ashong, aka Awule and Michael Nii Okine, both 22.

A fifth suspect, Bright Twumasi, aka Baron, 18, alleged to be the buyer of the robbed items, is also in the grip of the police.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE yesterday, Chief Superintendent Fleance Sedam Adikah, Kaneshie District Police Commander, said the suspects had allegedly been terrorizing passengers arriving from Cape Coast and Takoradi at the park.

According to C/Supt Sedam Adikah, the robbers oftentimes trailed the victims before they attacked them.

Stressing that that was not the first time suspect Amoako and the other members of the gang had been arrested by the Kaneshie police, he stated that they were recently freed by a court for want of prosecution over a similar crime.

The Kaneshie District Police Commander explained that the complainant in the said case stopped going to court, compelling the court to release the suspects.

He said about 2:00 am on Friday, September, 12 2014, Amoako and the others were arrested at their hideouts at Pokuase in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, with the assistance of some informants in the community.
