Assembly members in Sekyere Kumawu here in the Ashanti Region will meet tomorrow to cast a vote of no confidence in their District Chief Executive Samuel Kwame Asiamah.

The assembly members are accusing the DCE of misappropriating funds in the construction of a lorry park and some locker stores.

The project which cost 2.5million cedis according to the assembly members do not match the edifice that has been put up so far.

According to the assembly members, the contractor who was at site has abandoned the project and has deserted the project and the district chief executive has gone ahead to pay more the 90% of the funds to the contractor without due process

For this reason the assembly members have called for his removal and will be meeting tomorrow to pass a vote of no confidence in him.

The impeachment charges came up when the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong paid a courtesy call to the District to inspect ongoing projects there. The regional minister appealed to the assembly members for calm noting that his office will deal with the issues.

Despite the intervention by the Regional Minister, the Presiding Member of the assembly Samuel Agyekum says they will go ahead with their impeachment.

Ultimate Radio's Joseph Oppong Brenya, who was at Kumawu, reports that the district chief executive demeanor shows he is remorseful for the decision and the Assembly members may reconsider their decision even though they will be meeting tomorrow.
