Restlessness Holds The Key

04.09.2014 LISTEN
By Theodore MK Viwortor

Christians at times become ignorant of what it means to be a Christian, therefore, some of them live anyhow and expect to achieve great results. There are Christians who waste too much time complaining instead of working hard on changing things around them. They don’t see why some things are happening to them but forget to ask the Lord what the purpose is.

One thing every Christian ought to know is that God never does anything by accident; so, whatever He allows to happen to His children is for a special purpose and the earlier His children found out what the purpose is, the more they realize that their God is truly alive.

In the Bible, when Jacob deceived his father Isaac and took his brother Esau’s birthright from him, Esau felt bitter and wanted to avenge for the lost privilege of a first born child.

However, his father gave him the secret to recovering from the lost birthright. Genesis 27:40 “You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck."

Esau may have found the first sentence or statement very difficult to take but there was a way out. He had to grow restless to throw the yoke from his neck. The solution is one of aggressiveness.

Growing restless is about being very aggressive and determined, not giving oneself rest until something happens or changes.

That is the way Christians ought to behave in their day-to-day lives as long as they see things going wrong around them.

It is a very bad practice for Christians to be complaining about things that they have to face and defeat. Though Esau’s fate was determined by his loss of the blessings from his father, he was given the opportunity to restore it to some extent.

We are living in evil days that call for extreme vigilance and seriousness on the part of those who have been called into the Kingdom of Heaven. Making it to Heaven is no small business.

Jesus told the disciples that grabbing the Kingdom of God is a matter of life and death or violence.

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it.” Matthew 11:12.

The Kingdom of God is always under attacks by evil forces that do all within their powers to frustrate the children of the Kingdom with the ultimate aim of taking them away from their God.

Restlessness is the key to maintaining one’s place in the Kingdom. The yoke remains when Christians fail to be restless.

Restlessness involves devoting oneself to the works of the Kingdom especially to prayer and for that matter, vigilant prayer.

Vigilant prayer is purposeful and watchful prayer that keeps a Christian on his toes at all times to ensure he is always in tune with God.

We are enjoined to pray without ceasing, 1Thesalonians 5:17. Prayer is crucial in all situations because it is the oxygen for our spirit man and the fuel that fans the fire of God in us.

Vigilant prayer is what every Christian must practice at all times but not only when they face challenges in their lives. Restlessness must be always, not only during crises.

The devil is not resting for a minute, why then should the Christian sleep. How can you rest when your opponent is continually pursuing you, trying to destroy you?

The end times call for restless. The end times call for recovery of what belongs to the Kingdom of God. The end times call for vigilant Christians who are on the lookout for anything that is attacking the Kingdom of God.

Restless is about staying hidden in the Lord every moment of the day so as not to be taken advantage of by the enemy.

Christians must be spiritually violent and aggressive to restore the plan of God and maintain His purpose for His children and the world at large.

The complaints and murmurings must give way to restless just like the widow who kept bothering the judge till he had no option than to do what she wanted him to do for her. Luke 18:1-8.
