The Bureau for Internal Affairs (BIA), an anti-graft organisation, on Monday expressed concern about the brisk commercial activities around the N1-Mallam Junction, which it said, was posing danger to lives and property.
A statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency by Miss Grace Tetteh, Administrative Secretary of BIA, said not long after the N1-Mallam stretch was completed, a long truck, which was loaded with a lot of items, fell off from the overpass at midnight, which led to the death of the driver and his mate.
'In no time some people started selling under the overpass and gradually more people joined in the trade. Now the place has turned into a commercial activity centre. Trotro drivers have succeeded in creating a park at the spot,' Miss Tetteh said.
She added that the place had become a disaster zone and that should there be a motor accident, a lot of lives would be lost.
'This is a predictable disaster, which can be avoided. The Bureau for Internal Affairs is therefore calling on the Ga South Municipal Assembly to help reverse the situation,' she urged.
