Tamale Residents Confront Cholera

The Chief of Tamale, Dakpema Naa Alhassan Dawuni, his elders and people of the Tamale on Saturday embarked on a clean-up exercise to prevent the outbreak of cholera and other diseases in the Tamale metropolis.

The clean-up exercise received massive support from residents of Tamale and the military from Kamina Barracks.

Other prominent persons who joined in the clean-up exercise included the Diemanaa Hafix Mohammed Choggu, Dr Opoku of God's Hospital, Dr Akosua Agyepong, among others.

The clean-up exercise formed part of the Green Tamale Clean Tamale NGO project aimed at greening and bringing sanity into the Tamale metropolis to attract investments and businesses to the area.

The exercise which lasted five hours started at the Dakpema palace through the business district of Tamale and ended at the British Garden Well.

Speaking to journalists, the Chief of Tamale, Dakpema Naa Alhasssan Dawuni, thanked the people of Tamale for their support especially the military who left their busy schedule to partake in it.

He said there was the need at all times to clean the environment to ensure that people live healthy lives, adding that cleaning the environment should be a concern to all.

The Diema Naa I of Dagbon, Hafix Mohammed Abdulai Choggu, who is the also the Operational Director of the Green Tamale Clean Tamale NGO hinted that the organisation has a dream of making the city of Tamale as one of the cleanest in the world.

Earlier, the NGO planted trees at some tourist attractions to boost tourism in Tamale.

The Green Tamale Clean Tamale NGO has Dr Abdulai Salifu as Chairman, Vice Chairman-Mr Napoleon Abdulai. Diema Naa Hafix Mohammed Abdulai Choggu, Hajia Salimu and Mohammed Rashid are members.

The Diema Naa announced Akosua Agyapong as the ambassador of the Green Tamale project.
