World Vision Ghana donates

Accra, Sept. 2, GNA - World Vision Ghana (WVG), a Christian Relief, Development and Advocacy organisation, on Tuesday presented Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on the Ebola Viral Diseases (EVD) to Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The 405,000 pieces of materials, valued at GH ₵ 457,000 include posters, leaflets and pull ups, which would be distributed to educate as well as sensitise the public on the EVD.

Mrs Gifty Appiah, Acting National Director of WVG who made the presentation, said the organisation is dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice, and that the presentation formed part of its human transformation services.

'This donation is also in keeping with World Vision Ghana's pledge to both the people and government of Ghana to do all within our power to support the campaign to prevent an Ebola outbreak in the nation,' she said.

Mrs Appiah said: 'As a child focused organisation with the vision of life in all its fullness for every child, we are committed to doing all within our power to prevent or mitigate the infection and spread of the disease.'

Mrs Gloria Quansah Asare, Deputy Director-General of GHS, said EVD is a national issue that needs all hands on deck to help contain and control its outbreak.

She said the materials would be distributed in the 10 regions, with the concentration on women groups.

'These materials are going to be distributed widely and massively for all to be abreast of the knowledge and preventive measures of containing Ebola in the country,' she said.
