Accra, 3rd September 2014 - Lamudi Ghana, Ghana's leading online real estate marketplace, has partnered with the Osei-Kusi Foundation (OKF) to provide an opportunity for participants to gain hands-on training in online marketing.

The participants are either chosen from an award scheme or through OKF community service participants. The award scheme was initiated by OKF and Selfless 4Africa Inc and has been dubbed “The Community Service Awards”.

It aims at cultivating a spirit of volunteerism and community service in young people, it also seeks to encourage them to be selfless, innovative and commit themselves to supporting people living in deprived communities.

Participation in the scheme is open to all tertiary students across the country. Groups of three and five tertiary students identify a deprived community in Ghana to come up with an innovative proposal to address some of the needs of the youth in that community.

As part of its role, Lamudi Ghana will be providing internship opportunities to participants in the award scheme and OKF community service. During the internship, beneficiaries are expected to gain insight into Lamudi's online marketing operations, and would also benefit from exposure to other sister e-commerce ventures of Lamudi.

The first to benefit from this scheme was Peter Israel. The OKF Volunteer highlighted the benefits the partnership has brought him: “Before, my view of marketing centered more on the traditional means, such as advertising and personal selling.

Now I've learned to use Whatsapp to engage clients efficiently. A client having trouble uploading pictures for instance can send me pictures through Whatsapp and I would do the uploading on their behalf,” he pointed out.

Ishmael Oku, another beneficiary, praised the efforts made by the online real estate company, hinting that it would help him in his drive to be a content developer: “Ever since I joined Lamudi, I have began to develop much interest into the real estate market in terms of content. One of my goals is to help [develop content for] the real estate market, some of the articles I've read concerning real estate shows that the market looks very promising,” he noted.

Lamudi has pledged to support every youth willing to serve the nation and make it a better place to live in. Lamudi Ghana aspires to be a long-term partner to this initiative and continue to provide a host of opportunities to potential volunteers.
