Even trees and stones are calling for change in govt - Kwesi Amakye
01.09.2014 LISTEN

A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kwesi Amakye Boateng says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) could easily win the 2016 general election if it puts its house in order.

In his opinion, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) after about six years in power has not been able to mitigate the plight of Ghanaians.

Kwesi Amakye made the comment on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Monday.

He said due to the worsening socio-economic conditions in the country “even trees and stones in the forest are also calling for a change”.

The Political Science lecturer believes the NPP which he says is the obvious choice for many Ghanaians can salvage Ghana from collapse.

He added that Ghana needs a “developmental minded leader” to change the fortunes of the country.

Kwesi Amakye maintained that the current economic challenges coupled with high cost of living are all self-inflicted thus it will take a visionary leader to turn things around.

“The poverty in the country is artificial so we need a leader who can turn the God-given natural resources in the country into good use”.
