The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional council of elders have also kicked against the final delegates congress to elect the party's 2016 flag bearer.

They argue that the outcome of the party's super delegates congress on Sunday clearly shows the need to present Nana Akufo-Addo as the flag bearer for 2016 without any opposition.

They insist Akufo-Addo's overwhelming victory does not warrant another event to elect the person to lead the party.

In the Northern Region, Akufo Addo polled 62 out of the 71 total votes cast.

His closest contender, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng only managed 4 votes.

Chairman of the Northern Regional council of elders, Chief Mahama Braimah told  Citi News  that presenting Akufo-Addo as the flag bearer will help cut down cost.

He said, 'With Nana Addo as our flag bearer we will not waste resources to erect new bill boards and to market him because he has already been well marketed.'

Chief Mahama Braimah said Ghanaians need Akufo-Addo to fix the nation's ailing economy.

He pleaded with all true party members to rally behind Nana-Akufo Addo for a resounding victory in 2016.
