Failed flagbearer aspirant of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Asamoah Boateng is parting himself on the back after his abysmal performance at the just ended super delegates congress on Sunday.

He said his performance in the congress to prune down the number of aspirants from seven to five is the beginning of good things to happen in his political career.

Asamoah Boateng made the comment on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Monday, a day after the congress.

The former Information Minister managed to pull a disappointing 13 votes out of a total of 740 ballots cast. This performance many political pundits believe could mark an end to his presidential ambition.

But Stephen Asamoah Boateng on Ekosii Sen said he deserves a lot of credit for taking what he described as a giant step.

According to him, in an election where everything pointed to one direction, only a bold and ambitious person can contest such an election against all odds.

“Contesting an election in NPP is not for the fainted hearted; you need a strong heart and conviction” he stressed.

Asamoah Boateng said just like the biblical David, “I have put my trust in God and I know He will make all things beautiful in his time”.
