ON MY HUMBLE MIND : SUPER DELEGATES VOTING TODAY- NANA AKUFO - ADDO'S WIN TO BRING UNITY IN THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY.
31.08.2014 LISTEN

Today marks another historic event in the New Patriotic Party. The party's quest to wrestle political power from the incompetence of President John Dramani Mahama's NDC government will see a great boost after today's election.

Nana Akufo - Addo is clearly far ahead of the competition and after the close of elections today, the results are going to be overwhelming in favour of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo.

Without any equivocation of doubt, Akufo - Addo's flagbearership position for our party is our best chance to winning the 2016 elections. His popularity and acceptance by the rank and file of the NPP across the country and beyond has reached an epic proportion.

The party must take advantage of this political mileage as we prepare towards the 2016 elections. Akufo - Addo has shown selfless leadership qualities within the party, the nation and on the world stage in many different capacities he has been privileged to serve humbly.

Akufo - Addo has been loyal to this tradition and a trait that has never been questioned. The super delegates will today show that loyalty is key to the leadership potentials of every one.

His dedication to Ghana's fledging democracy, the development of the party and society has seen Akufo - Addo continues contribution to these noble ideals.

An incorruptible politician he has always been ready, willing and capable in exhibiting his high quality vision for the party and for Ghana. Nana Akufo - Addo is far ahead of the competition in today's elections.

Most party faithfuls and disillusioned Ghanaians who are fed up with the NDC's abysmal performance are waiting with bated breadth for the New Patriotic Party to remain resolute and rally behind the man whose passion to the development of our nation are clear, unambiguous and visionary. In the next few hours, the results from the various polling centers will begin to trickle in.

Let us be very circumspect in our celebration. Let us avoid sowing seeds of discomfort to any one who does not or did not support our preferred candidate.

This is but a family contest, we must come out of this more united than ever before. Obviously and unfortunately, many statements have been made that has the potential to create animosity and rancour among our rank and file.

After today's election let us show the world community and the Ghanaian society that as a political party, we are poised to rally our efforts behind the winner.

The election of Nana Akufo Addo in today's polls is only a precursor to the main national congress slated for 18th October, 2014.

However, if we show enough magnanimity towards the other contestants and their supporters, the party can confidently decide with the acquiescence of the other aspirants, to have a declaration of Nana Akufo Addo to lead the party at the 18th October, 2014 congress.

This will save us a lot of human, logistical and financial resources. Therefore, as we celebrate today's event there is the need to be circumspect in our pronouncements and attitudes towards any one whose posture and utterances did not support our preferred candidate.

Although today's voting is very important to reduce the number of qualified Aspirants from seven to five, the 2016 elections win is the only barometer that will provide the party and Ghanaians especially the best team to govern this country.

This election, like most democratic processes are only about choosing among a number of potentially qualified Aspirants.

A number of scenarios and permutations will need to be made by the delegates and a choice of one against the other should not be seen as a hate against love contest.

Party delegates will votes for the most popular Aspirant after careful consideration of the most likely one who can help the party win the 2016 elections.

Let us appeal to one another to conduct ourselves in such a manner that will ensure peace, unity, togetherness and cooperation in this party. This event is only a work in progress towards the 2016 elections. How we conduct ourselves after today's elections as a party will be used as our credentials in the 2016 elections.

Already, many unfortunate issues have passed under the bridge, let us use this event as our spring board to unity and peace in the party. On my humble mind wish all our other Aspirants the best of luck in today's elections.

Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, Hon. Dr. Kofi Kunadu Apraku, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Hon. Joe Ghartey, Hon. Kofi Osei Ameyaw and Hon Addai Nimo all have very excellent credentials required to propel the party to win the 2016 elections.

Their image and reputation must be protected by everyone who profess to love to see the NPP win the 2016 elections.

The need to galvanise our strengths and opportunities and reduce or eliminate our weaknesses and potential threats are extremely important today than ever before.

Our ability to work with each other to maintain unity of purpose within the party is of paramount importance.

Akufo - Addo is going to help unite this great party after today's election. Let us all come to the table with clear consciousness devoid of suspicion and pain.

Thank you.
