The election of constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress in the Bimbilla Constituency of the Northern region Friday August 30, 2014 turned distressing as almost all the incumbent executives lost to the newly elected officers. Sources within the camp of the defeated expired executives indicated that there were no level play grounds for the aspirants.

They claimed people from the regional secretariat of the NDC and the District Chief Executive Alhaji Mohammed IBN Abass supported the camp of the newly elected executives. The defeated camp expressed worry over the challenges that shall befall the NDC as the party in the Bimbilla Constituency would now be led by people who have no understanding of the political atmosphere in the constituency. The group described the newly elected executives as an unopened-minded people.

The division within the NDC in the Bimbilla Constituency according to the old executives who lost miserably in the elections was strange and unimaginable. They expressed their deepest fears and frustrations at the devastating effect that the chieftaincy factionalism, which was the determiner in the just ended elections could course the party.

Though not confirmed, the group alleged that the newly elected constituency chairman and other top executives all pay allegiance to one faction in the Bimbilla chieftaincy fracas. They further alleged that the newly elected women's organizer is never an NDC member. “Azari banku was imposed on the people to satisfy the whims of the regional executives of the party.” The overpowered group further accused the regional treasurer Mr. Rashid (computer) of commandeering the party's activities in the constituency.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party in the Bimbilla Constituency in its solidarity message expressed its readiness to battle with the NDC. The NPP rep made a categorical statement to the effect that the NPP was poised at retaining the seat in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections. The party entreated the NDC to move beyond all kind of activities that have the potential of further dividing the party.
