Attempt to intimidate delegates ahead of Sunday elections

The NPP youth for 2016 is worried about the level of intimidation and planned activities to coerce delegates into voting a particular pattern in the August 31st Elections to prune down the number of 7 aspirants to 5.

Credible information picked by our members at the various regions indicate that, delegates, especially in the three Northern Regions and Central Region have been told to show thumb printed ballot papers before dropping it in a box. This we believe, defeats the spirit of our national constitution and that of our party, which says such voting shall be by secret ballot.

Another credible information gathered is that, in some areas like Ashanti and Brong Ahafo, delegates will be made to take pictures of their thumb printed ballot papers, which also violates the secrecy of ballots.
" Where there are more than five contestants for nomination as the Party's Presidential Candidate, a Special Electoral College shall cast their votes by secret ballot for the first five contestants to be short-listed. The Special Electoral College shall comprise the following delegates"

There are plans to also bring in macho men to attack the elections at venues, which are considered to be secluded; i.e. bushy surroundings, indoor etc.

We believe as advocates of equal platform for all aspirants, it is important to bring to the fore such concerns and devilish plans aimed at intimidating our chairmen and delegates, especially in a contest such as this.

Let's all go into this election with the spirit of brotherliness and believe that our able delegates are capable of selecting 5 noble men to present to the 140,000 delegates in October.
