Okyenhene Endorses Miss Tourism 2013 Project

Jessica Jemila Kawra, Miss Tourism Ghana 2013, has observed that if care is not taken, tourists will shun sites in Ghana.

In line with this, she would launch the 'Saving the environment through recycling' project on September 4.

The project seeks to sensitize the youth about the impact of the pollution of the environment on tourism and how to be creative with recycling materials.

'Ghana has historically attracted a lot of tourists largely due to her role in the slave trade and the many useful tourist sites dotted across the country. However, we stand to laugh at the wrong sides of our mouths if we do not take the management of the environment and these tourist sites seriously,' she said.

Miss Kawra made the remarks when she paid a courtesy call on the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin I.

The Okyehene, on his part, expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor management of the environment.

The Okyehene Foundation has been one of the active organizations that has embarked on a series of activities to protect the environment over the years.

Okyehene, an environment ambassador, said he would support Miss Tourism Ghana's project to propagate the laudable idea.

The project is being supported by Kenpong Travel and Tours, Airtel Ghana and Holiday Inn, as well as the Ministry of Tourism.
