An Ebola camp
The Life Foundation Institute (TLF), a newly- established non-governmental organisation aimed at educating the public on Ebola prevention, has launched the Ebola education campaign in Accra.

The educational camping is targeted at high risk areas in the event of Ebola outbreak and deprived communities on the borders of the country.

Prince M. Zakaria, Programme Coordinator, said the main focus of the TLF Ebola education campaign is to educate members of deprived communities through activities and educational outreach events.

He also said the organisation would be working in collaboration with the Ghana Independence Broadcasters Association (GIBA) to grant airtime both on radio and television to air educational campaigns to the target audience.

'We will be working in areas such as Western, Eastern and Northern borders and we will also distribute hand sanitisers to the under-privileged in these identified zones as well as disseminate educational materials,' he said.

Mr Zakaria further noted that the organisation is solely funded by individual support and therefore called for corporate and government support in their activity.

'We have asked for bio- medical suite which is very expensive and they want the support of the public, financial institutions and other professional bodies to raise funds to support us,' he noted.

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu, giving his remarks as the special guest said there has been no cases of Ebola recorded in the country currently.

He commended the organisation for the initiative to help deprived communities who would be most affected should the deadly Ebola virus disease break out in Ghana.

Mr Iddrisu also urged the public to be vigilant, conscious and help propagate the message of a zero tolerance for Ebola in Ghana both in prayers and conduct.

He said the Ebola started in 1976 but the incident today is more deadly than what happened at that time, and therefore called on all citizens in the country to be alert.

He also assured that the government has rolled out a comprehensive programme for the prevention of Ebola; much of it would concentrate on the borders.
