Was Afriyie Ankrah Assertive On The World Cup 2014 Commission?
29.08.2014 LISTEN

From afar in my home I see the gestures of the honourable minister who took Ghana to the just ended world cup Brazil 2014 last June where Ghana brought nothing but a public ridicule leaves much to be desired.

The former Youth and Sports Minister whose action and in actions caused this nation a lot of embarrassment in the international scene I thought have would be apologetic in his defences anytime on any plat form.

Instead, what I saw last Monday 25 august, 2014 on GTV'S live coverage of the programme when the commission members were interrogating him seems he has not regretted the pain he has caused the about twenty four million Ghanaians including those who are not football enthusiast.

To me Whether he shared tears, wept or sobbed for the country Ghana that emotions could not wipe the embarrassment he caused the nation.

on his claim that if Ghana did well in the last world cup such questions wouldn't have arisen still remains emotional appeal as the fact remains Ghanaians were and are still much disappointed about the poor performance by the black stars on the field of play as well as the general attitudes of the entourage who showed gross indiscipline that resulted the bad image of the country which is uncharacteristic of Ghanaians in the international assignments.

it is on this light that I do not expect any member of the team who represented Ghana in brazil 2014 world cup including the ambassadors who accepted to canvass support for Ghana not to be that unrepentant but rather show remorse and say never again shall we let our people down.

Yet if it's true that the minister wept for Ghana then I think weeping alone is not enough to see Ghana develop rather attitudinal change towards the spirit of nationalism and, patriotism and, hard work devoid of corruption intent must be the urgent need for all Ghanaians if we want to rebuild a stronger economy as all developed nations believes in what they can do for their country and not the country can do for them.

Based on that I would rather entreat all Ghanaians young and old to be candid and accept their faults when their actions and inactions whether well intended one way or the other exposes mother Ghana to some level of disrepute.

I think the honourable minister's performance calls for total removal from government and not a shift to another ministry.

He could have also resigned honourable to gain public respects and to serve as precedence for all Ghanaians when they negligently causes the nation in the cause of their duties.

Asking question after the commissioner question without answering what they have asked him was a sign of no respect though Ghanaians known to be answering questions with questions.

I observed that mister Afriyire Ankra was doing everything possible to defend the indefensible at the commissions' last sitting with him.

I think He either was overwhelmed about the position entrusted him or was showing gross ignorance of the position of such magnitude as he believed he alone could run the whole show without trusting anyone even with the accommodation as he revealed he was dashing everywhere to ensure things were right.

Or was he truly afraid of the 'mafias at GFA' if indeed they are as we here.

My advice is that as we aspire to be leaders in life team work should be our want word so we can trust and work with people as without us Ghana will live on.

I also think that honourable E.T .Mensa should consult other football people to write a holistic book that will serve as a guideline on how Ministry of Youth and Sports and GFA'S work since he is the longest successful minister in that sector with little or no bad news in the history of Ghana sports as far as I am concern.
