Saradha Scam: CBI Raids 14 Locations In Assam Including Two Former Ministers, Former DGP’s Residences

Guwahati, Aug 28: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday carried out search operation in 14 locations in Assam including the homes of two former ministers of Assam state government, one former DGP of Assam police and a filmmaker in connection with its probe in alleged swindling of investors deposit by Saradha group.

The search conducted in 12 locations in Guwahati and two in Dhubri.

The CBI had raided at the residences of former minister of Education and Health department of Assam and MLA of Jalukbari constituency Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and MLA of Amguri constituency Anjan Dutta in Guwahati.

Other premises, the CBI team raided at the residences of former DGP of Assam police Sankar Baruah, filmmaker-singer Sadananda Gogoi and SBI's Chenikuthi branch.

A top source of the investigating agency said that, the team raided at the office of News Live channel, which owned by former minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma.

The CBI also raided two locations in Dhubri including a biscuit factory of Saradha group.

On other hand, Assam Chief Minister on Thursday said that, those who found guilty they will be punished.

“Nobody should be allowed to go connection with Saradha or other chit funds,” Assam CM said.

Meanwhile, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has demanded to arrest of two former minister, former DGP.
