Kwesi Ahwoi
President John Mahama has nominated former Interior Minister Kwesi Ahwoi and his senior policy advisor Sulley Gariba as Ghana's ambassadors to South Africa and Canada respectively pending the approval of the Council of State.

Dr Gariba's appointment marks the first time an appointee within the presidency has been moved after the president issued a letter to his staff last July, alerting them of an impending shake-up within the presidency.

In letters signed by the President himself and given to the appointees including the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani and other senior presidential advisers and aides, John Mahama thanked his team for services rendered to his government and to Ghana.

Dr. Sulley Gariba is a policy, governance and evaluation specialist with over 30 years' experience in providing governance and strategic advice to Governments, regional and International institutions.

Mr. Ahwoi on his part has held various positions in government and business.
