Ghana Alhassan
Pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) grouping, Kandaha, based in Tamale, has denied a story that some of their members were in Accra to offer protection to the Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, the party's scribe.

The rumour about the presence of the grouping in Accra, and which sought to create an impression about their alignment to some personalities in the party caused apprehension and anxiety among party faithful hailing from Dagbon.

The rumour was amplified when it found space in a section of the media; it suffered a setback when the leadership descended on the source of the story, pointing out that none of them was outside Tamale.

The Chairman of the grouping, Ghana Alhassan and Abdul Hack, scribe, have in a press release distanced themselves from a recent announcement credited to their organiser, Badawi Abdallah, which sought to indicate that they were in Accra.

'Kandaha has not gone to Accra and has never promised to guard or protect Afoko and Kwabena. Badawi Abdallah made an individualistic statement to suit his parochial and selfish interest. He has violated the constitution of Kandaha by issuing the statement which has sparked this controversy,' he said.

According to him, no member of the grouping had been delegated to speak on behalf of the grouping, adding, 'Only the chairman and the secretary can speak on behalf of Kandahar.'

Badawi Abdallah, he recalled, told Neat FM 100.9 FM that 'people like our Northern Regional NPP Chairman must be warned. We will not sit idle for them to continue insulting everyone. He cannot continue talking byheart and if he does not stop, we will have serious problems with him.'

Continuing, he said, 'We are using this opportunity to condemn the disparaging remarks made by Badawi Abdallah and apologise to the Northern Regional Chairman of NPP, Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, for the disparaging remarks made by Badawi Abdallah.'

Kandaha, he explained, are pacifists and not combatants.

Badawi Abdallah and his accomplice, Lukman Zakaria (1st Vice Chairman) of Kandaha, he announced, have been suspended. Investigations, he said, are ongoing to establish whether others were part of the embarrassing statement.
