We can't win if we cut each other into pieces - Nana Addo

The 2012 Presidential candidate for the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on the feuding factions in the party to settle their differences amicably.

He stated that such internal wrangling could negatively affect the party's chances of winning the 2016 presidential election.

Addressing party faithful in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, as part of his campaign tour, Nana Addo stressed “we can't win if we cut each other into pieces. It's not possible.”

The presidential aspirant indicated that nothing was more important for the party than uniting to win the 2016 election, advising that no disagreement should trigger any form of trouble in the party.

“We will not agree about everything inside the NPP. We are not robots. We cannot agree about everything; even about the leadership but we can agree about the objectives and the values and the principles of the NPP” to govern the country.

Nana Addo further assured that he would do everything in his power to bring the factions together  to ensure total victory in 2016.

He cited lessons from the eight-month long Election Petition hearing that if the party wished to win any election in the country it should be at the polling station and not in the court.

Therefore, “we will win our fight at the polling stations. And for that to happen – our strategy; our resources; our strength would have to be deployed there.”

Touching on the ongoing media war, Nana Addo agreed with the decision to halt all media wars, saying, “I like to add my voice to it. Whatever problems we have; we have to solve those problems at home; not in the glare of public sitting” he said, urging, the rank and file of the party to put all their efforts in the struggle for victory in 2016.

“We are fellows in a common cause. Unity of our party is vital for prospects of success. The people of Ghana want to see us in power in 2016 [and so]; we should encourage them.”

Joy News Correspondent, Hubert Mawuli Yevu-Agbi reported from Ho that some 26 party chairmen in the region have pledged their support for Nana Addo.

According to them, they would ensure that Nana Addo is retained for the presidential election in 2016.

NPP National Organizer, John Boadu told Joy News' John Opoku Gakpo just after a Steering Committee meeting was held at the party headquarters in Accra Monday, that it was a normal meeting they had.

He noted that they discussed administrative matters regarding the upcoming special congress and reports on the party's voters' register.

Mr. Boadu, however, declined to comment on the Perry Okudzeto and Opare Hammond's 'proceed on leave' saga because there have not been any concrete decisions arrived at yet.

But was quick to note that “what is important now is that, we're having our special congress on Sunday.When we finish this major assignment; we'll come back to these issues that are pertinent to you and I to make sure that we resolve it once and for all.”

Addressing the media Monday on the super delegates congress, the party's General Secretary said the notice of poll have been delivered to all the regional capitals.

Kwabena Agyepong mentioned that there would be 11 polling stations in all the regional capitals and an additional one at the party headquarters.

Every aspirant is allowed two agents per polling station

The stations will be manned by a presiding officer from the National Electoral Commission.

Approved guidelines
All voters will be identified by the NPP delegates' card

The poll will start at 8am and close at 3pm.
Presiding officers of the EC will be in total control of the polling station and will be assisted by a representative of the national executive.

All ballots shall be counted with results declared at the polling centre.

Results declaration forms shall be endorsed by the candidates' agents present.

    
All endorsed results will be transmitted to the EC strong room by the regional directors.

No polling official shall take instructions from any party member or executive.

All proxies should be eligible voters and the proxy list will be prepared.

Kwabena Agyepong announced that a total of 787 voters will take part in the super delegates congress.
