The 20th World Congress On Safety And Health At The Work Opens In Frankfurt On August 23

The World Congress 2014 is one of the most important events offering a platform for information exchange to experts in safety and health, representatives of companies and employees, decision-makers from government and public authorities, the social partners, and anyone active in the area of occupational safety and health.

The weeklong Congress has as its Theme Sharing a Vision for Sustainable Prevention. The Global Forum for Prevention focuses on “Prevention Culture – Prevention Strategies – Vision Zero; Challenges in Occupational Health Diversity in the World of Work”.

The national host of the World Congress 2014 is the “Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (DGUV)” - The German Social Accident Insurance. The hosts have invited as Participant, Ghanaian Ms. Esenam Emily Akumah of Adenta, Accra. Esenam did her M.Sc. Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management in UniBrunel, London, with her internship at AKER SOLUTIONS in Norway Offshore. She also did her Post-Graduate course on Occupational Safety and Health in the Workplace at the University of Turin, Italy.

Co-hosts are The International Labour Organization (ILO); The International Social Security Association.

Attending as well from Ghana is Dr. Julius Fobil, a Senior Research Fellow, School of Public Health, Legon and will feature in “Occupational poisoning among e-waste workers in Sub-Saharan Africa: Setting up a basic occupational laboratory service”.

Dr Fobil is a product of University of Bielefeld School of Public Health's Department of Public Health Medicine and a Research Associate to the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Group at the Bernhard Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine in Hamburg.
