The Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ordered all its officials to cease making public statements on the internal conflicts raging within the party and focus on issues affecting the lives of Ghanaians.

The directive comes on the back of the violent clashes that occurred at the party's headquarters on Tuesday.

Machete-wielding supporters of the party stormed a press conference which was being addressed by the National Chairman and the General Secretary over the removal of the acting Communications Director, Perry Okudzeto by the two.

A statement issued after the meeting, which was held on Thursday said “All Party Officers, Functionaries and Communicators should desist from making public statements relating to current internal party issues.

“The Council of Elders directed that the embargo on press statements also include the electronic and social media and that anyone who violates this stipulation will be subject to the full application of the Party's disciplinary procedures”.
