Owerri Recreation Club Set To Confer Imo Speaker Grand Patron

For setting an enviable record in the annals of legislative business in the Imo state House of Assembly within his three year stint as the Speaker, the Owerri Recreation club, has concluded plans to confer on Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, as its grand patron.

The event which promises to draw the crème of seasoned people of the state is scheduled to take place at the club's pavilion, Owerri Prisons, Okigwe road, owerri, on Sunday, 24th of August, 2014.

According to a notice which was signed by the President of the club, Engr. Patrick Abaneme and the Secretary, Sir. Cajetan Ohiri, the choice of the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, was borne out of the need to reward hard work and diligence, while encouraging resourcefulness, discipline as well as dedication to duty among public office holders, into contributing their God-given quota to the service of the masses.

The club which noted numerous achievements of the Uwajumogu led Assembly, maintained that such legislative transformations recorded by the House have impacted positively on the generality of the citizens of the state.

It stated that the level of stability and unity in the House within the last three years under review was an eloquent testimony of the Speaker's sterling leadership qualities, adding that despite belonging to different political leanings, the members of the state Assembly have against all odds, closed ranks to work for the good of the people of the state, not minding their individual interests.
