21.08.2014 LISTEN
By Daily Guide

Men's Health Foundation Ghana, a prostate care organisation, will stage the first-ever prostate health disparity symposium in Ghana.

The symposium would address the needs of healthy men who are at high risk of prostate cancer, men newly diagnosed with the disease, caregivers, family members and men with recurring or advanced stage prostate cancer.

The event is scheduled to coincide with the month that has been globally earmarked as the prostate cancer awareness month.

Each symposium would include presentations by prostate cancer medical experts and a survivor's roundtable discussions that address the needs of caregivers of prostate patients.

The symposium would also look at the need of early prostate cancer screening and push for a specific prostate cancer policy in Ghana for men concerned about prostate cancer.

Men's Health Foundation Ghana aims at reducing the worrying prostate cancer disparities in black men by 2025.

According to Dr Raphael Nyarkotey Obu, the founder of Men's Health Foundation, the symposium which would be launched in September at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra, would be held across major towns in the country, and would address the need for increased knowledge and awareness in the fight against a prostate cancer.

The event would be staged in partnership with Amansan Television. The foundation is therefore seeking for collaboration from corporate institutions, churches and

men organisations to be part of the symposium to educate men on prostate health.
